CREATING THE PROGRAM

Our leadership team works together to ensure students and faculty receive the support and resources needed to fulfill our mission. Led by Dean Carol A. Romano, PhD, RN, BC, NEA, FAAN, FACMI, our unique leadership structure is comprised of three Associate and two Assistant Deans who each oversee a specific and critical component of the school. They each serve as direct, strategic advisors to the Dean and liaisons to the broader university community in their respective areas.

The Dean oversees the entire GSN and ensures that students, faculty, and staff have what they need to accomplish their part of the GSN mission.

 

 

 

 

 

ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Diane Seibert, PhD, APRN, FAANP, FAAN

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs has direct responsibility for all academic programs in the GSN including improving the curriculum and ensuring it is aligned with military readiness priorities, coordinating clinical site availability for students, and putting in place clinical evaluation systems for accreditation purposes.

ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR RESEARCH

Jane Fall-Dickson, PhD. RN

The Associate Dean for Research provides visionary and strategic leadership and support for high-quality student and faculty research and scholarly activities, including assuming responsibility for stimulating funding and implementing research that supports the military and federal health system.

ASSISTANT DEAN FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS

James Maiden, EdD, LPC, NCC

The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs works with the Commandant team to foster student professional and educational development within the uniformed services and address military issues impacting GSN.

ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR FACULTY AFFAIRS

Lynette Hamlin, PhD, RN, CNM, FACNM, FAAN

The Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs partners with faculty, academic programs, and administration to provide programs and resources to assist and promote faculty growth and develops and implements educational and administrative programs to meet unique faculty and academic needs.

ASSISTANT DEAN FOR ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE

Patricia Kenney, MSN, Captain, U.S. Navy (Ret)

The Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance manages the administrative operations of the School, including facilities, contracts and grants, budgetary and financial management, academic personnel and human resources and assists in administering the university’s disciplinary process for academic misconduct.

GSN COMMANDANT 

CAPT Jerrol Wallace

DNP, MSN, CRNA, AANA, NC, USN

The Graduate School of Nursing’s Commandant and the Commandant Team is responsible for fostering student professional and educational development and addressing military issues impacting GSN. The Commandant along with the Company Commander and Senior Enlisted Advisor oversee a wide range of programs to provide personal, administrative, and academic support for students. The Commandant team’s responsibilities include:

  • Developing initiatives to improve student health and physical fitness, academic outcomes, financial management, campus morale, and overall esprit de corps.
  • Providing leadership and professional development opportunities and helping students navigate administrative requirements.
  • Overseeing the student conduct process
  • Serving as a liaison between GSN and USU brigade leadership, directing service-specific mandated programs, and exercising military command of all brigade uniformed services students assigned within the GSN.
