Biography

Col Williamson's service began in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Mississippi University for Women. After graduation, Col Williamson received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force Nurse Corps in 1996. He worked as a civilian ER nurse until starting active duty. Col Williamson has served in numerous positions including: a staff nurse, flight nurse, assistant nurse manager, nurse manager, deputy flight commander, flight commander, and currently as a family nurse practitioner (FNP). He has demonstrated expert nursing skill and knowledge in the following fields: Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Flight Nursing, Advanced Practice Family Nursing and Academics. As a Flight Nurse, Col Williamson logged 913 flight hours as qualified Flight Nurse, Instructor, and an Examiner on four airframes (C-130, C-9, C-141, and C-17). In 2007, he completed his Masters in Nursing Science to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Col Williamson then went on to serve as a Family Nurse Practitioner, 55th Medical Group, Offutt AFB where he managed a panel of 1200 Tri-Care beneficiaries, including 200 Personal Reliability Program patients (nuclear security). He then PSC’d to 78th Medical Group, Robins AFB, GA as the Flight Commander of the Family Health Clinic (FHC) and PCM. While there, he led three elements consisting of 52 military and civilian personnel in the transition to the Air Force Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and managed the provision of care to 11,000 direct beneficiaries with a 2.1 million dollar budget. As the Flight Commander, the clinic became one of the top PCMH clinics in Air Force Material Command and Air Force Medical Service. From Robins AFB he transitioned to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), Germany to become the Flight Commander/ OIC of the Family Health Clinic. He assumed leadership of the U.S. Army Family Health Clinic and led two PCMH clinics of 34 joint-service medics and civilian personnel in the provision of primary care to 6500 beneficiaries. Additionally, Col Williamson was the primary care manager (PCM) for all active duty Air Force personnel assigned to LRMC/ 86 MDS, and their dependents. In 2014, while stationed in Germany he completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. In 2017, Col Williamson was assigned as the Flight Commander of the Family Health Flight at U.S. Air Force Hospital Langley, Langley AFB, VA. While there he led a cadre of over 100 staff in three elements to deliver primary care to over 22,000 enrollees. In addition, to leadership he was a dedicated PCM, senior facility FNP and preceptor USU DNP students where he was awarded Adjunct Assistant Professor. He is now stationed at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing where he is an Assistant Professor in the Family & Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Program and as an Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine's Military & Emergency Medicine Department.

Col Williamson is married with one son. He is a member of several professional organizations including American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, National Association of Dermatological Nurse Practitioners, and National League for Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society: Zeta Rho and Tau Theta Chapters
