Biography

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Doctor of Nursing Practice, Phase II Clinical Site Director for the DNP yearlong residency in Colorado Springs, CO.

I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, but grew up as an army-dependent traveling the world. I am a wife and mother of two girls (14 & 25) and one son (4). I started my career as an enlisted Medic in 1996 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. After 8 years and attaining the rank of E-6, I was selected for commissioning via the Airman Enlisted Commissioning Program (AECP). I graduated from nursing school in 2007 at the University of Maryland at Baltimore and was subsequently commissioned through Officer Training School as a second lieutenant. I’ve held several nursing staff positions as well as Assistant Nurse Manager, Medical-Surgical Unit, charge nurse, ER, Eglin AFB, Fla and charge nurse, and Interim Assistant Service Chief, Medical Intensive Care Unit, WRNMMC, MD. In 2013, I deployed to the Role 3 at Kandahar, Afghanistan as a CCRN and the officer In charge of the CASF/Patient Movement Element. My favorite locations were Turkey and Germany. In 2016 I was selected as a Jonas Scholar. Since practicing as a PMHNP-BC, DNP I have worked in several roles including DNP, Mental Health Technicians and Certified alcohol and drug counselor preceptor, Mental Health Element lead, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program Manager and Medical Director, and Flight commander before transitioning into my current position and assistance professor.
