Biography

MAJ Kenneth Romito is an Assistant Professor for the Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Program for the Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD.

MAJ Romito received his commission in the United States Army Nurse Corps in 2008 from the 42nd OVB Army ROTC Program after earning his BSN and military science minor at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. In 2010, MAJ Romito completed the Army Perioperative Nursing Course at Fort Sam Houston, TX and has been a Certified Perioperative Nurse since 2013. His assignments as a perioperative nurse include Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, VA, and Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI. In 2014 he obtained his Master of Science in Nursing with a Specialization in Leadership in Healthcare Systems from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. He received his Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the Daniel K. Inouye Graduate School of Nursing at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD in 2019, receiving his board certification as an Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license. His DNP project, "Achieving High Reliability in High-Level Disinfection of Flexible Endoscopes at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center" poster won first place in the Evidence Base Practice category at the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Global Conference and Expo and at the USUHS Research Days in 2019. His His first post-doctorate assignment was with the Center for Nursing Science and Clinical Inquiry at Tripler Army Medical Center where he awarded APRN of the year in 2022 leading clinical practice across 12 departments and over 300 staff at the largest military hospital in the INDOPACOM. MAJ Romito is a graduate from the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS.

His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, The Humanitarian Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal.
