Biography

CDR Connie Braybrook was born in Guam and began her Naval career in 1996 at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL followed by completion of the Operations Specialist
"A" School. She reported to her first duty station, USS Mahan DDG-72, as a plank owner and completed all phases of pre-commissioning to commissioning. In 1999 she was selected and completed the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) program in Newport, RI and was awarded the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship to become a Nurse Corps Officer. She successfully completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in May 2003 and received her commission.

Previous assignments include Naval Medical Center San Diego, where she was assigned as a staff nurse on the Medical-Surgical ward; Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton, CA where she was assigned as the Division Officer of 52 Area Branch Medical Clinic; Duty Under Instruction for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program where she received her Masters of Science in Nursing and received her American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

As a PMHNP she was stationed at U. S. Naval Hospital, Okinawa, Japan where she excelled through leadership positions from Division Officer, Department Head, and Associate Director; U.S. Naval Hospital Guam where she was selected as the Department Head of Mental Health and created the first substance abuse Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Treatment program for the hospital; and served as the Senior Nurse Officer and PMHNP at Naval Branch Health Clinic Fallon, NV. In December 2017 she obtained her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Gonzaga University. In August of 2020 she assumed the role of Officer in Charge for Naval Branch Health Clinic Key West and Navy Medicine Readiness & Training Unit Key West. In July 2023 she assumed the role of Director, Clinical Education and Assistant Professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner DNP program. She is involved in her community functioning as the Specialty Leader advocating for all Navy Mental Health Nurses and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.

Braybrook’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medal, unit awards, and multiple campaign and service awards.
