Biography

Maj Micheal Allen, USU alumni 2016, DNP, FNP, was born into an Air Force family in Duluth, Minnesota.  After living in MN, he was raised in Louisiana and has since lived in 11 different places, traveled across the globe both in the military and for leisure.  He has over 14 years of military service both as an officer and enlisted.  He enlisted in Navy in 1998 and served on board the USS Enterprise’s (CVN-65) flight deck as a green shirt launching aircraft.  After leaving the Navy in 2002, he pursued his BSN at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, VA.  He worked two years as an oncology medical-surgical nurse in a community hospital where he gained a wealth of knowledge he needed for his next assignment in the U.S. Air Force. In the Air Force, he worked at the DoD's only Bone Marrow Transplant unit located in San Antonio at SAMMC in 2011.  This is where he learned invaluable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and collaborative and compassionate care.  This sparked his interest in primary and secondary prevention through cancer screening.  After completing his Doctorate at USU in 2016 as a Family Nurse Practitioner, he was stationed at Randolph AFB, TX.  At Randolph he served as a staff Nurse Practitioner while being a clinical preceptor for 6 FNP students and Medical Director where learned valuable lesions in team development and mentorship.  His passions are God, family, and country.  He and his family of seven reside in San Antonio, TX.
