Biography

Major Amanda Vance began her nursing career as an intensive care nurse in Reno, Nevada before deciding to commission in the United States Air Force in May 2012. Her first assignment was at Travis Air Force Base, California serving as an ICU nurse to veterans and DoD beneficiaries. During her five years at Travis Air Force Base, she served on the cardiothoracic care team and was in charge of the moderate sedation training program. Major Vance deployed during this time to Bagram Air Force Base, Afghanistan serving as an ICU nurse supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel. After returning from deployment, Major Vance completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2020 at Uniformed Service University. After graduation, Major Vance returned to Travis Air Force Base as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist where she served as an interim Flight Commander for the Anesthesia Department and Phase II Adjunct Faculty for the Uniformed Service University Nurse Anesthesia students. She was selected as the Medical Director for the Travis Air Force Base 2022 Air Show, and appointed to the Wing Inspection Team. In December 2023, Major Vance assumed the role of Assistant Clinical Site Director for the Phase II Nurse Anesthesia Program at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base.
