BiographyMAJ Lathrop is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and Clinical Site Director at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.
MAJ Lathrop has over 25 years of military experience. He first enlisted in the Army in 1993 as a Combat Medic and continued his nursing education in 1997 at Fort Sam Houston, TX as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). He then completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2009, and his Doctor of Nursing Practice from Northeastern University in 2016 through the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN).
MAJ Lathrop has 2 combat deployments. He served 15 months as a combat medic with 101st Airborne during OIF from January 2003 - May 2004. His most recent deployment was as Chief CRNA of the 499th Head and Neck Detachment in Baghdad, Iraq, from November 2017 – June 2018.
MAJ Lathrop also deployed in support of 3 humanitarian missions. He provided preventative and acute medical care for indigenous populations in Panama in 1996 and served as nursing support for primary, dental and minor surgical care to citizens in Trinidad and Tobago in 2007. Most recently, he served as the sole anesthesia provider in Ghana, Africa for a surgical team from Brooke Army Medical Center in 2017.
